Community-Wide Clean-up WEEK
Let’s cleanup the Community!
In honor of Earth Week and good health, join a week-long Spring clean-up and walkathon event from April 19th through April 26th, 2025! This multi-family, multi-generational event aims to inspire Pembroke residents to clean their neighborhoods [Hoods] and experience physical activity via walking.
Walk at least 1 mile a day within your roughly 5-sq. mile hood and clean up the trash along the way [~ 30 min -1 hr.]. Upon check-in [OKAN Center], industrial trash bags, gloves & safety vests will be provided. Township and HP Village officials will pick up loaded bags from the ‘Hoods’ [see map below] and carry them to designated dumpsters.
A Community Block Party on April 26th will celebrate our success! Get your miles in and WIN a Pembroke Beautiful T-shirt!

*Research shows that walking 30 minutes daily is equivalent to walking 1.5-2 miles (2.5-3.5 kilometers). This simple activity can reduce the risk of various lifestyle diseases, including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and high cholesterol, which plague Black and Hispanic communities.
